Modern and Well-equipped Laboratory Services to Handle All Types of Analysis
Kualiti Alam’s laboratory facilities are designed to support our operations at the Waste Management Centre with some wastes being chemical-based and hazardous in nature. Our stable of chemists and laboratory technicians are qualified and well-trained to analyse, understand, process and recommend the necessary protocols required to handle all types of waste material from collection, transportation, treatment to disposal.
Environmental Management Services
The Environmental Management Services is organised into five functional Sections as follows:-
• Inspection and Sampling;
• Laboratory Analytical Services 1
• Laboratory Analytical Services 2
• Waste Evaluation & Technical Services;
• Quality Systems and R&D Services
Some of the major functions performed by the LMS are:- |
The Laboratory Analytical Services is committed to providing quality services to our customers. Accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 on 24 September 2001, we have also conducted comprehensive in-house quality programmes to maintain our quality of services. We have made a significant commitment in implementing the Equipment Preventive Maintenance Programme for major instruments with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that our instruments are always in tip-top condition.
Another example of our commitment towards quality service is our active participation in local and international Proficiency Testing Programmes. The methods of analysis used in the testing are based on internationally accepted test methods such as USEPA, APHA, ASTM, ISO, etc. Our Laboratory Analytical Services are divided into two sections of specialisations, namely inorganic and organic testing.
The laboratory has also implemented Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in all phases of our analysis and data management to ensure the accuracy of our analytical results, efficient analytical data management and data traceability.
A Waste Evaluation Guideline has been developed by the laboratory to assist customers in understanding waste evaluations conducted at the Waste Management Centre. The diagram is an outline of the general types of waste and the treatment methods recommended.
The typical parameters analysed for toxic and hazardous wastes are:-
• Heavy Metal Analysis such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, nickel, mercury, zinc, etc
• Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP)
• Oil and Grease
• Total Organic Carbon
• pH Value
• Total Solids
• Total Chlorine
• Calorific Value
• Flash Point
• Viscosity
• Polymerisation Reaction
